This project is a 105 m2 detached house in the English countryside, near the Welsh border. It is owned by and was constructed for David Olivier. It also contains the office of Energy Advisory Associates.

Making extensive use of solar energy, it demonstrates today’s best practice in ecologically-sound rural house design. Some features used in it are experimental and have not been used before in energy-efficient, solar housing; others are already recognised as ‘best practice’.

Most of the techniques herein were replicated here following successful previous experience in other countries in Europe or North America. In particular, these ten should be acknowledged: the USA, Canada, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Finland and the Netherlands.
